How to relocate to Finland from Kazakhstan and Central Asia

This guide provides information on completing the Enter Finland application form from Kazakhstan and other Central Asian countries. Please note that if you live in Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, or Tajikistan, you can only apply for a residence permit at the VFS center in Astana.
Main Application from the Primary Applicant
Application checklist:

  • Make sure to use your personal email address, not a corporate one.
  • If your spouse or children are applying for a residence permit along with you, we recommend submitting all applications on the same day. Be sure to note this on your application.
  • When describing your occupation, make sure it aligns with the job title and duties listed in your contract.
  • Describe your main duties at work as thoroughly as possible. The introduction of your duties should match what is stated in your contract.
  • For "Beginning and duration of residence in Finland," specify "permanently".
  • In the "Additional Information" section, provide detailed information about your expertise and qualifications, highlighting that you are a specialist.

Attachments:

  • Passport.
  • Workbook of employment history (handwriting or digital format).
  • Residence Permit or equivalent (e.g., РПВ): For those holding only a РВП, it must have a minimum of six months remaining validity. Your contact information and address in the application must match the address on your РВП.
  • Certificates (if applicable).
  • Diplomas of Higher Education
Application for spouse
Application checklist:

  • For spouse and children, applications must be submitted within two business days through the fast-track option.
  • For the question "What kind of a residence permit has been issued to your spouse?" if your spouse is applying simultaneously, choose "A (continuous)".
  • For the question "Could you live together as a family elsewhere than in Finland?" answer "No."
  • For the follow-up question "Why not?" respond with "My husband has a job in Finland."

Attachments:

  • Spouse's employment contract (main applicant)
  • Marriage certificate
  • PK1 Form Placeholder: Attach a document titled "Clarification of Form Absence.pdf", with an explanation that "My spouse doesn't have a Finnish residence permit and is applying for this permit to Finland at the same time."
  • If this is your first marriage, submit a placeholder form in the 'Previous Marriages' section. If not, provide a divorce certificate.
  • Residence Permit or РВП: Same requirements as the main applicant (minimum six months validity).
  • Proof of spouse's assets.
  • Passport (applicant).
  • Passport of the main applicant’s spouse.
Application for children
Application checklist:

  • It is preferable that children’s applications be submitted from the main applicant’s account. The form for their application will appear after the payment and submission of the main applicant's form.
  • For the question "For how long is it intended that the child will be resident in Finland?" answer: "As long as they can legally stay in Finland."
  • For the question "Is this parent also the child's guardian?" answer: "Yes."

Attachments:

  • Requirement for means of support: All documents that verify the financial means to support the children, including proof of financial assets.
  • Birth certificates: translated and apostilled.
  • Passport of the child.
  • Residence Permit or РВП: The same requirements as the main applicant (minimum six months validity).
  • Consent of the guardians: If someone other than the parents is the guardian, notarized consent must be attached.
  • Custody document. If there is no custody document or passport copy of the guardian residing in Finland, use the placeholder explanation: "We do not have a custody document or a copy of the passport for the guardian residing in Finland, as we (Parent 1 Name and Parent 2 Name) are the child's parents and currently live together in [Country of Living]."
Additional Information

  • It is also necessary to have photographs taken for all family members. These photos do not need to be submitted electronically; instead, you will need to bring them to the VFS center in person. You can find the photo requirements and instructions here.
  • After submitting all applications, you will receive an invitation to the VFS center within approximately two business days. They may also request that you fill out an additional form for yourself and your family members.
  • The interview at the visa center is usually very brief. The visa center may suggest a translator for the interview, but you have the option to decline this service.
  • You can arrange for courier delivery of both the D-visa and residence permit for you and your family to any address in Kazakhstan or even neighboring countries through an international courier service.
  • You will receive a residence permit card as proof of your permit, unless you selected the D-visa option. The card will arrive at the embassy where you confirmed your identity within 2–3 weeks.
